Virginia is for Lovers, Especially Wine Lovers!


California, Washington, Oregon, Upstate NY all specialize in US wine production, but Virginia? Yes! Did you know Virginia is currently ranked number 5 for the amount of wineries by state? (See Chart below)

According to the VA governor Terry McAuliffe, wine production in Virginia contributes to 1.37B annually to the economy and continues to grow.

Thomas Jefferson was a major wine lover and brought over many vines in the early days from Europe, planting them in Virginia. His wine legacy still lives on today in Virginia especially at Jefferson Vineyards where he started to grow grapes over 250 years ago.

Barboursville Vineyards, probably the most notable wine from Virginia, had some of the architectural design from Thomas Jefferson, and produces wine with many Italian Varietals.

Virginia has produced many Master Sommelier’s including Robert Jones, who is one of the most well know Masters in the industry.
