Thomas Jefferson was a major wine lover and brought over many vines in the early days from Europe, planting them in Virginia. His wine legacy still lives on today in Virginia especially at Jefferson Vineyards where he started to grow grapes over 250 years ago.
Barboursville Vineyards, probably the most notable wine from Virginia, had some of the architectural design from Thomas Jefferson, and produces wine with many Italian Varietals.
