6 Blancs – Favorite Whites for a Chill Night

Sometimes we just want to chill (others NEED to chill out). Here are my top 6 for white wines sold everywhere:

1) France:

Domaine Fournier Sancerre Les Belles Vignes 2015 ($24)

Transparent straw gold with a green cast. Ultraclean, multidimensional fragrance of varied yellow fruits, ripe citrus and spice accents. The palate is highly focused and shows impressive precision, with a beautiful, elegant structure. Long, intricate, etched conclusion. – Wine.com

Domaine Pichot ($18):

This semi-dry wine is the perfect balance between dry and sweet wines. It combines freshness and roundness on the palate with aromas of passion fruit. Its balance enables this wine to suit a wide variety of meals. Starting with fish or scallops, this semi-dry wine will delight your guests. Serve it with white meat or poultry accompanied by a cream and tarragon sauce or morel mushrooms. Goat cheese will prolong the enjoyment, followed by a lemon meringue tart, which will match the semi-dry’s tasty freshness. This reliable wine is to be served slightly chilled.

2) Oregon:

A to Z Pinot Gris ($15)

Aromas of honeysuckle and acacia yield to citrus fruits, white peaches and nectarines. This medium bodied Pinot Gris is well balanced with a very satisfying finish. Pair with fish and white meats. – TotalWine.com

3) New Zealand:

Kim Crawford Sav Blanc ($16)

Classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc aromas of lifted citrus, tropical fruit, and crushed herbs. A fresh, juicy wine with vibrant acidity and plenty of weight and length on the palate. Ripe, tropical fruit flavor with passion fruit, melon, and grapefruit. Pairs brilliantly with fresh oysters, asparagus, lobster, or summer salads. – Wine.com

4) Italy:

Pinot Grigio Bollini ($10)

Shows fragrant bouquet, elegant, delicately focused white fruit flavors and a slightly flinty quality on the palate. The texture is crisp and clean in the mouth, with superb acid balance and a subtle nuttiness on the finish. An excellent aperitif white wine and a great choice for parties because it matches beautifully with a wide range of appetizers, especially fried calamari, oysters, clams and crab. – Wine.com

5) California:

Justin Sav Blanc ($18)

Very bright, pale straw with silver/green highlights. Lemon, ripe pink grapefruit and ripe pear with subtle white pepper and green herb accents. Dry, medium bodied, crisp with lemon and subtle mandarin citrus notes over a pleasant herbal background on entry with savory and mineral textural notes on the mid-palate and into the refreshing finish. This is fresh, classically styled Sauvignon Blanc that is perfect on a hot summer day before a meal as a refreshing aperitif, with lightly seared and salted Shishito or Padrón peppers, or with freshly grilled shrimp marinated in olive oil, salt, pepper, lemon juice with oregano and served with a white wine, lemon and caper sauce. – Wine.com

6) Spain:

La Cana Albarino ($18)

Straw yellow color with golden hints. This wine expresses traces of lime and grapeftuit.- Wine.com
